The Never-ending Monarch Challenge
Welcome to this challenge. I’ve noticed that in my own playstyle, I love creating monarchs but don’t have anything to do with them after the first generation. This challenge has you create a first generation monarch who has to build up their kingdom and their legacy.
Recommended Mods:
MCCC: Of course
Regency Romance Mod: If you want to make money quickly, this is the best option. You will buy yourself a property and that will make you money.
Royalty mod: This just makes creating titles easier and passing down of the crown. It also adds some fun gameplay.
Getting started:
Please create your Monarch. You don’t have to restrict yourself to history rules where only one gender can become a ruler. You get to make the rules. If you want a matriarchy society, you can have one. You can also create a spouse for this monarch if you so choose, but if you don’t, you will have to find a spouse in game to create your lineage.
Residency:
I would suggest living in Newcrest as you are to build up your kingdom in this challenge. I would also suggest starting on Twin Oracle Point as this will give you plenty of opportunity to build up your palace. You will have 20,000 or 25,000 (if you made two sims) to start with. Once you build your palace, you can add 20,000 more to your household.
The Challenge:
You have to build up your kingdom. To do this, you will need money and people. Right now, you have none (only 20,000). First thing you will need to do is get more money. Once you have money, you will need to become friends with others. Once you have a friend, you can convince them to come to your kingdom. At that point, you will need to withdraw from your household funds, the necessary money to build a home for that person. For example, if you are building a starter home, you will need to withdraw 20,000 from your household funds to build that house. If you are building a home for a noble, you may want to spend more on their house. Either way, you will need to spend your own money to build their homes. Once they are in your kingdom, you will not need to maintain this relationship. If you move onto a new monarch they won’t need to make friends with them to keep them there.
You can also build businesses, rentals, vacation homes, cafes, and more but those will also need to come from your funds.
This will take a while, which is why it will be generational. Each monarch will have to build up the kingdom in some way and leave their mark on the world.
An Added Challenge:
For an added challenge, below I will have challenges for each milestone your monarchs will have. You do not have to play these but it can be fun storywise for your monarchs to have additional challenges they have to face.
20,000- Your monarch is just starting out but they are in need of an heir. Marry (if you haven’t already) and start having kids. One of these will be your monarch someday so teach them as much as possible about the duties of being monarch.
50,000- The new kingdom's economy is fragile and must grow somehow. A merchant shows up to offer their services. You can either build a business in which to grow your economy (this can be a cafe, retail, or other). Or you can rebuild a home to be grander and give that family a title.
100,000- Your monarch discovers a land far away (Selvordorada) and loots the treasure for the kingdom. Your monarch can either decide to build a museum to show off these artifacts or sell them to make more money.
200,000- Have your monarch have a forbidden romance. This can result in a child or not, but you can dictate how this story turns out. Do they divorce their spouse/or break off any prior engagements to marry this person. Does this result in scandal? Or do they decide to not marry that person in favor of a more suitable match?
500,000- One of the monarch's distant cousins is claiming that they have a better right to the throne than the monarch. Have this cousin become an enemy with the monarch and eventually have a duel, if the monarch wins… great! Your line gets to continue. If the monarch dies… If the heir is of age you can repeat the duel to see if your heir gets the throne but if your heir is not of age, have the cousin take control of the kingdom and try to get the heirs out of the way to secure their reign.
1,000,000- To celebrate this huge milestone in the kingdom’s history, the monarch decides to have a tournament. You can decide what kind of tournament this is (whether you want to use mods or not- I personally used the archery mod). You can also have your monarch decide to join the tournament themselves and see if they win.
1,500,000- Rumors are spreading in the kingdom of a group of people who hone magic. They are known as spellcasters (you can change the occult to fit your desires). Decide what the monarch will do. Will they banish the occult and force them to flee? Or will they create a place for the occult to live and work with the kingdom?
2,000,000- A nearby kingdom is rumored to want some of the monarch’s land. Meet with the other monarch to discuss the events taking place. If the monarchs cannot agree, there could be war. (for this you can use the Enlist in War mod. There is a chance your monarch will die.) If your monarch dies, what happens next? If they win, take over that kingdom and start building there as well as Newcrest.
