The Vestal Virgins Challenge

 Based on the Roman women themselves, this is a challenge to keep you on your toes. 



Background: 

The Vestal Virgins were a cult from 7 BC to 394 AD. These women were chosen from the highest of nobility and were without blemish both mental and physical. They were chosen from the ages of 6-10 and served for 30 years. During those years, they had a strict code that forbade them from violating their law of chastity. They also had to tend to the flame of vesta and if it went out, there would be consequences. 


CAS: 

There were always six virgins in the temple at all times. They were chosen at a young age and served for 30 years. Your sims can be anywhere from child to adult. They almost always wore a headscarf and during ceremonies, they wore a white veil with a long dress that was purple (most of the time, it was only the upper part of the dress that was purple). The headscarf would be taken away if the vestal broke their chastity or let the flame go out. 

As for traits, the women were without mental or physical blemishes. You can randomize traits and remove those that are negative or keep them as they are. I'll let you be creative. 


BUILDING: 

The temple of Vesta was found at the epicenter of Ancient Rome. Most of the time, the temple was round instead of the normal rectangle but you can build your temple any way you want. The only things you have to have are: 

- The flame of Vesta (use a campfire because it requires fuel). 

- A wishing well (or something to collect water with) 

- A kitchen to prepare food (one of the jobs was to provide ritual food). 

-  Things for a dinner party.

-  A dungeon room. 

You can also play this challenge with Off the Grid for a more accurate telling. 


The CHALLENGE:

The challenge includes three parts: keeping the flame alive, skill building, and Aspiration completion. 

Each vestal will have to max a skill and complete an aspiration. You can control all of the vestals to do this but each one must complete the following each day. You can decide how some of these are done. 

- Prayed to Vesta

- Collected water 

- Have no romantic interactions 

Weekly they will have to have a dinner party and cook a feast. Each day, one will be chosen to tend to the flame. The flame has to be kept alive at all costs. 


THE CONSEQUENCE:

The punishment for a Vestal Virgin was very cruel. If one of the vestals was found to have broken their chastity, or the flame went out, they were punished by death. If they failed to do their duties, they were beaten. 

Since vestals were not allowed to have their blood spilled, the way they were sent to death was by being buried alive. You can replicate this by creating a dungeon room and keeping your sims there until they die. After you have gotten rid of one, you must get another. However, you will be starting fresh on that vestal's challenge. The new vestal must be a child. If one of your sims becomes an elder, they must be moved out of the temple and a new vestal will be chosen. 


If you want to make the challenge harder- you can move out your sims when they become an adult and make the lifespan shorter. You lose when you get bored or all of your adult sims die.

The Never-ending Monarch Challenge
